Students at the PWS continued their celebrations from the picnic at the Pearl Centre by making the symbolic lamb in respect to the Feast of the Sacrifice.

The students enjoyed a great time with the toys and candy full of party bags they had received before commencing on their Cultural Studies Lesson, which was based around ‘Kurban’ meaning ‘Sacrificial’. The class was not only entertaining but also very informative. While they were having fun making their little lambs, the kids were told the story behind the hardships Prophet Adem and Ibrahim had to go through with their children.

What does Feast of the Sacrifice mean?

Eid al-Adha, also called Feast of the Sacrifice is an important religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to honour the willingness of the prophet ʾIbrāhīm (Abraham) to sacrifice his young first-born son Ismā’’il as an act of submission to God’s command and his son’s acceptance to being sacrificed, before God intervened to provide Abraham with a ram to sacrifice instead. It lasts for four days.
