When people think of diversity in the workplace, they usually think of the visible differences, i.e. racial or ethnic diversity. But diversity encompasses so much more. It can relate to culture, religion, gender, sexual orientation or identity, disabilities, body type, age, background, and even education.
As organisations work towards diversity, we will begin to embrace these benefits. So how can we create a diverse and inclusive workforce? What are the barriers? What are the opportunities?
Our korero attempted to explore these questions. Our panellists were New Zealand’s first Professor of Diversity Edwina Pio, Founder of Authenticity Aotearoa, Nurain Janah, and Disability Rights Commissioner Paula Tesoriero. TV and radio host Stacey Morrison facilitated the discussion.
