Position title: Education Manager

Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Reports to: Executive Director

Salary band: TBC

PURPOSE

The Pearl of the Islands Foundation (PIF) is pleased to announce its next exciting growth stage and the establishment of Prestige Education Centre, which is specialised in tutoring, preparing to the NCEA and other exams, as well as English and Turkish languages. PIF is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified, experienced, professional and visionary Education Manager who will be responsible for the academic management and administration of the Prestige Education Centre. The Education Manager will also be responsible for the leadership and operational management, growing our Education Centre, researching, developing, implementing, reviewing and evaluating educational and administrative policy, tutoring and supervising teaching staff, and providing international education advisory at the PIF – PE Centre.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Education management, advisory and teaching/tutoring:
• Plan, teach and assess established programme in the centre
• Hire, supervise, evaluate, and support teaching staff and tutors, providing advice on policy to achieve high standards of student behaviour, engagement and achievement
• Research and report on students’ needs arising from curriculum implementation
• Communicate with parents and manage communications between parents, students and tutors in the centre
• Provide international education advisory for domestic and overseas students
• Advise students on career building, choosing the right programme and specialisation in higher education
• Research education systems, monitor and evaluate new developments
• Flexibility of hours is required for this role, as evenings and weekends are expected in correspondence with learning groups

Project Management, Planning and Development:
• Manage and coordinate the projects undertaken within the centre and education platform of PIF
• Take a proactive role in the formulation of future strategic directions including input and discussion from internal and external communications
• Develop an annual centre operation plan and budget that links to the strategic objectives of the centre
• Financial Management
• Manage projects and network with education agents and partners in New Zealand and overseas
• Secure local funding (e.g. grants) to support the achievement of centre activities

Relationship Management:
• Maintain effective working relationships with centre staff, learners and volunteers
• Maintain effective working relationships with PIF executives and the board members
• Liaise between educational institutions, parents and the wider community
• Develop and maintain effective strategic relationships with key stakeholders

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES

Qualifications:

Essential: NZ recognised Bachelor’s degree in education, or business, or management
Preferred: Postgraduate qualification

Knowledge and Experience:
Essential:
• At least two years’ experience (or equivalent) in educational organisation/institution with structuring co-curricular academic support programming or relevant experience in educational management
• Prior experience of at least three years in teaching/tutoring
• International practice, knowledge of overseas education systems
• Excellent skills in MS Office Suite including high proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook
• Experience in student recruitment
• Capacity to implement strategies to cater for diversity, including acknowledgement of different learning styles and approaches to study encompassing the needs and backgrounds of a diverse range of domestic and international students
• Demonstrated skills and experience in team building, change management and working cooperatively
• Passion in Education
• Able to work remotely and manage multiple priorities at any given time
• Foreign language(s)

Preferable:
• Understanding of social entrepreneurship
• Demonstrated experience in applying, managing and securing local/external funding
• Data analysis, evaluation and strategic decision planning
• Financial management and budgeting
• Knowledge of Turkish language is a big plus
• Knowledge of Maths or other tutoring subjects is an advantage
